Best Weight-loss Diet Methods
Our Approach to Weight-Loss & Nutrition
There are a lot of things we can’t control in life. But the one thing can control is what we eat. That is a lot of power in your finger tips to mold our your health one bite at a time.
When it comes to diets I promote more of an ancestral diet also known as traditional diets.
One that is rich of healthy fats, animal products (grass-fed, pasture raised, organic and wild caught), fresh organic vegetables, fermented foods, herbs, minimal grains, and very minimal processed foods.
I also promote against eating foods that have chemicals and/or artificial additives and this can lead bad endocrine health or gene function.
Some diet and nutrition methods I use with clients (and myself):
•Paleo Diet
•Cyclical Keto Diet
•Carb Cycling
•Fasting
•Fast Mimicking Protocol
During the last 14 years as a nutrition coach the number one question I always get asked is: Which weight loss diet is the best?
To be honest I wish it was that simple to answer. You are unique human being, with your unique genes and metabolic type.
Unfortunately what happens in the fitness and nutrition world is kinda like high school. You know when that popular kid gets all the attention for a while even though...
So one diet becomes popular get all the attention and gets pushed like the magic bullet diet for all...
I'm to give you a quick overview of Keto diet, Vegan/Plant based diet, Carnivore diet, Paleo & whole foods diet.
I will breakdown a few pros and cons for each. Then give you a plan on how to use some basics principles to chose what will work for you.
QUICK OVERVIEW OF THE CURRENT
MOST POPULAR DIETS
Keto Diet
A keto diet is a very low carb diet, most aim to get 50 net carbs a day. They believe this will put you into ketosis. Ketosis is when you body switches to using fats over carbohydrates for energy.
This theory is that it turns your body into a fat burning machine, literally.
Pros:
Cons:
Vegan Diet/Plant Based Diet
A vegan plant based mostly consist of people who think they are better than you because they choose plants over animal foods. Ha, jk. Kind of...
Ok jokes aside...As the name suggest this diet consists of primarily veggies, fruits, grains, legumes and beans. Some plant based folks still eat dairy, while vegans completely avoid animal foods.
Pro: You get a good amount of fiber, vitamins, and minerals if you are choosing organic produce. If legumes and beans are kept to a minimum this diet can be very anti-inflammatory.
Cons: I believe that a vegan or plant based diet are a cleansing diet and really should be done for 3-6 months at most. It requires a good amount of supplementation, like B12, DHA, . Can be pro-inflammatory when the majority of the diet consists of grains and processed foods.
Carnivore Diet
This diet is kinda like the new kid in the health & wellness block, well unless you remember the Atkin's diet. Diets always come in cycles, but we'll leave that for another time...
The carnivore diets consists solely animal foods, meat, fish, eggs and some other animal products. It avoids all vegetables, grains, fruits, nuts, legumes and seeds. Even though some add small amount fruits but inside their communities they like to argue about stuff like that. Which we all know arguing online is a really productive thing to do...
Pros: Can be highly beneficial to reduce inflammation, improve insulin sensitivity and reduce body fat (when done right).
Cons: It can be emotionally stressful due to the strictness, it can cause funky body odor,
Paleo Diet
Ah the ancestral diet aka Paleo diet focuses on eating like our ancient ancestors before to the farming. 10,000 years ago... It consists of meats, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits and seeds. While avoiding foods like grains and legumes.
Pros:
Cons:
Whole Foods Diet/ Clean Eating Diet
This diets consists of eating healthy real food. Animal foods, veggies, grains, legumes, fruits and seeds. Avoiding as much as possible processed foods.

How to choose the right weight loss diet for yourself
Choosing a "healthy" diet can seem like a daunting thing today. With some many IG influencers telling how this one is the perfect one and demonizing that other one...
To be honest nutrition should really be chosen based on your own personal biology, preferences and what you are really willing to stick to for a consistent time. At 3-6 months time.
Next I highly suggest to not get stuck in one ideology. Don't get stuck in the plant based camp, carnivore camp, or even keto camp. Instead be open minded and fluid with your beliefs and food choices...
Sometimes it might be good to go keto (I go 3-6 weeks twice a year), sometimes carnivore might be what your body needs, sometimes plant based or paleo.
As long as your diet is healthy which all above mentioned are, you will be ok. Also switching diets every so often helps have flexible metabolism, which is much better for fat-loss and overall health.
What ever diet you choose use these principle below to help guide your process...
