Hibiscus Fire Cider Recipe
With flu season around the corner (or maybe never ending, seems like) I wanted to share with you a spicy immunity booster shot you should always have available in your home. It's very easy to make you just have to plan ahead as it needs to sit for a weeks to become more potent.
This is immune booster shot recipe is a slight twist to the original Fire Cider recipe made famous by herbalist Rosemary Gladstar. The hibiscus adds a boost of vitamin C and antioxidants. It also helps to slightly softens the intensity of this shot. Makes it great intro for newbies
Some benefits of this immunity booster:
Fire cider helps clear out the sinuses and wakes up the immune and circulatory systems. People who experience poor circulation can take a little swig of fire cider daily throughout the winter to move their energy and blood.
Precautions: with all its spicy ingredients, can potentially aggravate heartburn, peptic ulcers, and gastrointestinal inflammation. Also for people with fiery constitution long term use might be too heating.
INGREDIENTS:
• Hibiscus dried flowers - 1 cup
• Horseradish - 3/4 cup grated
• Fresh Ginger - 1/2 cup grated
• Garlic - 1 medium bulb - peeled and chopped
• 2 Medium onions - peeled and diced
• Jalapeños 3 - 5 (to taste) seed intact diced
• Apple Cider Vinegar - 32 ounces
• 2-4 ounces of Raw Honey, to taste.
DIRECTIONS:
Toss all ingredients (except for honey) into a half -gallon jar or 2 quart jars. Make sure all ingredients are covered in apple cider vinegar.
Let sit for 4-6 weeks. Shake or stir once a day. Once ready strain and add honey to taste.
Recommended dosage - 1 teaspoon.
